The owner of Shoreline was looking to:

    • Create a weatherproof outdoor dining space

Like many hospitality venues in Scotland, the challenge was turning an exposed outdoor area into a profitable, usable space in all seasons.

Our Solution

We designed and installed a bespoke retractable pergola system, tailored specifically for commercial use in a coastal environment.

Key features included:
    • Fully retractable pergola roof system for maximum flexibility 
    • Glass sliding doors on all sides to protect from wind while maintaining views 
    • Integrated smart LED lighting to enhance ambience during evening service 
    • Robust aluminium structure built for durability in coastal conditions 
This solution allows the venue to open the space in good weather and fully enclose it when needed, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Installation Details

    • The pergola was installed to seamlessly extend the indoor dining area outward 
    • Full-height sliding glass panels were fitted to create a sheltered yet open-feel environment 
    • The structure was engineered to withstand coastal exposure, including wind and salt air 
    • Lighting was integrated to support both daytime dining and evening atmosphere 
The final design blends seamlessly with the building while maximising usable space.
